A collection of healthy, visual recipe ebooks, designed to build confidence and independence from prep to packaway !

the visual KITCHEn ebook
During my studies in occupational therapy, I worked in the NDIS/disability area, specifically with an adult caseload. In my role, I was regularly asked to create visual recipes for clients, to aid them in preparing, following and completing a cooking task.

When I researched the selection of visual recipes online, I noted:
-
a majority of visual recipes were illustrated with cartoon pictures and procedures, which did not always appeal to my adult caseload;
-
a large number of unhealthy recipes;
-
the key elements in a visual recipe, that support independence, were lacking.
Motivated by these findings, I developed The Visual Kitchen - practical visual recipe ebooks, designed to support confidence, independence and healthy eating, through accessible and engaging visual recipes !

what's a
visual kitchen recipe?
This collection of visual recipes is designed through an occupational therapy lens, using step-by-step images to make cooking clear and achievable, thereby supporting confidence and independence during the cooking process.
Our visual recipes aim to support people with intellectual disabilities and neurological conditions, addressing motor planning, sequencing, problem-solving, memory, executive functioning, decision-making and safe kitchen practice.
Each recipe is broken down into simple, visual steps paired with pictures and concise language, outlining exactly what to do and when.
